Jericho is a city located in the Palestinian territories, situated near the Jordan River in the West Bank. It is considered one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world, with evidence of settlements dating back to 8000 BC. Jericho is also significant in religious history, being mentioned in the Bible as the site of one of Joshua's battles and as the place where Jesus healed a blind man. The name Jericho may have originated from the Canaanite word for "moon," or from the Hebrew word for "pleasant fragrance."
